Landing Page

FoundationsPractitionerSenior lens
Quick definition

A page designed for a single purpose — usually to convert visitors from a specific source or campaign.

Foundations
New to SEO? Start here.

In SEO terms, a landing page is any page where a visitor "lands" from search. In CRO terms, it is a focused page built to convert one audience toward one action. The best organic landing pages are both at once: they satisfy the search that brought the visitor and guide them to the next step.

02
Practitioner
Doing the work day to day.

Nail message match — the page must deliver on the promise of the query and the title that earned the click, ideally echoing the searcher’s language in the first screen. Then remove leaks: every extra navigation option, competing CTA, or off-topic section pulls attention away from the one action. For organic landing pages specifically, balance the SEO need for depth with the conversion need for focus.

03
Senior lens
Strategy, trade-offs, judgement.

The strategic tension on organic landing pages is depth versus focus: search may reward comprehensive content while conversion rewards a tight, single-minded path. Senior practitioners resolve this deliberately — leading with the conversion-focused message and offer, then providing the depth below or in expandable sections — rather than letting a page sprawl into something that ranks but converts nobody. Intent-to-page alignment is what turns rankings into revenue.

DKDavor’s take

A page that ranks brilliantly and converts nobody is a very expensive way to feel productive. Match the message to the intent, ask for one clear thing, and cut everything that competes with it.

Common mistakes
Breaking message match — the page does not deliver what the query and title promised.
Cluttering the page with competing CTAs and distractions.
Optimising purely for rankings until the page converts no one.
In practice
A page ranking for "SOC 2 compliance software" that opens by addressing SOC 2 specifically converts far better than a generic product homepage.
